I would greatly appreciate any information you have. My grandmother, who did all of our genealogy, ran into roadblocks at every turn in trying to find information about Ellen Thomas' ancestry. Of course, when she passed away (1991), we did not yet have the internet, which makes it much easier to find others who might have information. I am descended from Ann Eleanor Jane "Nellie" Riney, who was my great-great grandmother, and was the daughter of Joseph and Ellen. If you wish to compare ancestry on Jospeh David Riney as well, please feel free to email me directly any time. Also, I have only information on Nellie Riney -- if Joseph/Ellen had other children, and you have information on them as well, I would appreciate anything you have. If you would like to complete your information about Nellie and Charles Michael's descendants down to me/my generation, let me know and I will email you the information, and let me know what kind of format you want it in. Again, SO glad to hear from you Nancy, and glad you took the time to respond! Pam Donnewald

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2AB.2ACI/5023 Message Board Post: Hello the list! Please excuse the cross-postings. I realize that many researchers subscribe to multiple lists and probably don't want to receive more than one copy of the same message; however, I'm trying to reach as wide an audience of Kentucky historians and genealogists as possible so please bear with me. We are actively engaged in digitizing scarce and out-of-print 19th century map and atlas data for use in genealogical and historical research of this period of Kentucky's history. Each month we receive a number of requests for specific material; either individual maps of a specific region or county atlases from a specific period. Until now, there has been no urgency to document requests for material, and the requests have been handled more or less piecemeal. With this in mind, the short questionnaire below was developed. If you are interested in hard to find research material that is configured for compatible access from your computer, please take a couple of minutes to respond to the five questions below by e-mailing me directly off-list. [email protected] Again, thank you for your time and cooperation. 1.) What features are you most interested in when using 19th century atlases and maps in your research? Land owners? Industrial or Commercial site locations? Place names? Transportation routes? 2.) What statistical and historical atlas data do you find most useful in your research? Population? Agriculture? Geological Data? County Histories? Biographical Sketches? Illustrations of People and Places? 3.) What specific region or regions of Kentucky are you most interested in? Please list all counties of interest and any specific material you would like to have computer access to. Include any known bibliographic references. 4.) For general material listed in question 3, please provide the periods of time or date ranges of interest. Again, for specific requests please provide bibliographic reference. 5.) When using research material that has been formatted for computer access, which is the most important: Resolution and detail of the images for printing? Speed of loading and access? Thank you for taking the time to reply to this questionnaire. [email protected] We value the input of folks who ultimately will use research material that has been configured for use electronically. Your comments, suggestions and requests for material will be recorded and prioritized, and will influence the kinds of material we continue to make available for researchers such as yourselves. Best Regards, Rich Green Historic Atlas Series http://www.historic-atlas-series.com
Hello Larry, Mayhew Harris did marry Mary (Polly) Patrick in 1791, but in the Grayson County deaths listed from 1852-1859 is Polly Cary age 70 died April 9, 1855 born Va. Parents were Mayhew Harris and Mary Harris. This would have put her birth at 1785. Kentucky would have been part of Virginia. And it shows that Mayhew Harris must have been married to another Mary before his 1791 marriage to Mary Patrick. The first marriage must be in the Virginia records and may be under John Mayhew Harris or John M Harris and possibly around the year 1782 as this was about when he turned 21 years old. He was probably living in the Fort Nelson, Ky area which is present day Louisville. The marriage could have taken place on the Indiana side of the river as he had land in the Clarksville area for his service during the Revolutionary War with George Rogers Clark. Question: Has anyone found any info on this marriage? Question #2: Would still like to know how Catherine (Peters) Harris and Jonathan Harris might have been connected? There doesn't seem to be any info on this couple. Thanks, all for now, Mike Lamb >From: "L35321" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [KYHARDIN] FW: [HH] Some Marriages In Hardin County, Kentucky, >1793-1815 >Date: Fri, 24 Jun 2005 09:00:34 -0700 > >Hello Mike > >Your Mayhew Harris that married Lydia Grey in 1811 was first married to >Mary >(Polly) Patrick in 1791. If you go to the following site they should have maps of Ky. for sell. I purchased an 1824, 1838 and 1850 map from them at a bookfair. Below is the website listed for them. Carolyn http://business.michiana.org/jpalmer/

Julie, Samuel is on the Hardin Co records in 1815. To my disappointment all his will said was "I leave all to my beloved wife Rachel Harris all my worldly property as long as she remains my widow to use dispose and give at her own discretion to my children but she shall not sell the land where on she now lives" Children are not listed, and the will was proven by the oaths of Michael Fox and Jacob Vertreese. I have no idea to whom Samuel and Rachel belong. Wish it could be more, Dottie -----Original Message----- From: David & Julie Keyser [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 9:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KYHARDIN] FW: [HH] Some Marriages In Hardin County, Kentucky, 1815-1825 Dottie, I know this is late in asking, but which Samuel Harris are you referring to below, married to Rachel? I just have the marriage 21 Feb. 1797( license) 23 Mar. 1797 (Minister's return) surety Jacob Vertrees; married by J. Dodge. I suspect he might be the John Harris b. 1765 s/o Thomas Harris & Sarah Hall but I have nothing to support this guess.
