The records would include all legible tombstones at the time, no matter how old they were. There are thousands of graves marked with just fieldstones - no way to identify those unless a family member can. Personally, my great-great grandmother's grave was marked with only a fieldstone in Pulaski County. My grandfather was one that helped bury her, even though he was not yet married to her daughter. He carved her initials in the stone and luckily it was passed down through the family where she was buried and which grave was hers. We had a picture of the fieldstone, so this past spring were able to get a marker placed beside the fieldstone so that others, in the future could identify her grave.

Hi! Anybody out ther researching an Adams family? I have a James Adams as my earliest documented Adams. He was born in KY on March 4, 1814. Sometime in the 1830s he ended up in Harrison County, IN. In the 1860s he moved back into Meade County, KY. We have a marriage bond from the 1860s, indicating that both his parents were born in Nelson County. Now, the trouble is, after virtually scrubbing every record we could find, we have no evidence of James in Nelson. My cousins and I are starting to prospect around and our first stop is Hardin. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of or information on James Adams? My family homepage url is below: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/c/h/Robert-L-Schneider/index.html Thanks in advance! Robert Schneider

I am trying to find out if there was a Daniel Horton born about 1790 living in Hardin Co, KY around 1790-1850. He shows up on the 1850 census in Madison Co, MO with a wife named Mary (Polly) and several children born in MO but the eldest was born in KY. His son's name was Daniel C., Jr in the MO records and was born about 1825. I have been told he (the eldest Daniel) may be the son of Reuben Horton who lived in Warren Co., KY but I haven't been able to make a connection yet. Also his wife's maiden name was Clark (taken from their daughter's death certificate) which there is a record in the marriages of a couple by the same names in 1817 in Hardin Co, KY. Anything you can find or suggestions as to what I can do next will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Marilyn Orr

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2AB.2ACI/5022.1 Message Board Post: I have two more daughters for this couple, Clesta who married Thomas Wood and Francis (Fanny) who married 1) Hardin Atterberry. They went "out West", had two sons. Hardin and the boys died there. Fanny came home and married 2)Samuel Jones. They had several children. I need to dig into my folders for details. Rufus was the brother of my husband's 2nd great grandfather, Ansel Smith. They were born in Ontario County New York. Their parents were John Smith and Jane ? Ansel reported in one census that his parents were born in Connecticut. I have Diana's married name as Newton. That information was from a researcher who is now deceased. However I have never found a marriage record for Rufus and Diana. A younger Smith brother, Calvin, married a Diantha Newton. Rufus was a witness. Calvin and Diantha went to Ohio. Researching Smiths is a challenge. I'm glad to see someone interested in the New York Smiths.
