    1. [KYGREENU-L] Whoa! Folks.....

    3. Hey good folks: Let's not "cut off our nose to spite our face"....... The Clerk's office exists to manage the business of the county on a day to day basis. It was not established to DO THE RESEARCH of the multitude of genealogists who ply them with open-ended requests for information. My dealings with the Greenup County Clerk's office have always been quite congenial. I've spoken with them by phone and found them to be quite courteous. In mailed requests I've cited both volume and page of my request and have received prompt, efficient service. I, for one, would certainly not wish to see this discussion thread develop to a point where the county employees are placed in a defensive position. Much of my personal visitation research has been in Carter, Greenup and Lewis Counties - and I've always been more than satisfied with the guidance and assistance provided in each of those offices. Yes, there have been times when an individual could not immediately "drop" what he/she was doing because of my presence; but one needs to expect that to occur. Some of my ancestor's records have been there for almost 200 years.... I should have arrived earlier, I guess! Happy New Year to all. Happy Hunting!
