Dear Paul Howard and Greenup County List, Thank you, Paul, for your response to my query regarding William COOPER, husband of Martha Ann BARNEY. The census entry from Evelyn S. Jackson's transcription of the 1850 Census of Greenup County was helpful, but I do have one correction. William COOPER served in the Union Army's Twenty-second Regiment of Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, Company E. Ms. Jackson's transcription gives "53rd Mounted Infantry" as William COOPER's Regiment. Actually, the 53rd Mounted Infantry was his son Artemas COOPER's Regiment, as well as his son Adoniram's. In addition, Adoniram served in the 45th Mounted Infantry.
