Why would anyone have the idea that the Court House does not have any records? They have all the records. They are available to the public in a very large room on the second floor that is staffed by a very nice bunch of people. The records in the new Court House, adjacent to the old Courthouse, are not genearly available to the public due to age and condition. The Library does have a lot of genealogy material, but they are understaffed and do not have a LOT of time to research for people. You should see some of the querries that come in the mail. People ask for all material available for a surname. We need to at the very least ask for specific information about a specific time frame. I personally throw out any querry that wants general information on a family. Most of Greenups records have been filmed and the film is available from the Archives in Frankfort and Lexington. Not all have been made available yet, it has been a long time since they were photographed and the film has still not ben made available. Just wanted to clear some things up. The Greenup County County Clerks office does have material for genealogists to research. (lots of it) The Greenup Library does have a genealogy room and they do respond to querries when they have the time and people resources to do so. Greenup material is available in the Boyd County Library where they have two staff commited to the Genealogy room to assist researchers. Greenup County has a Mormon church with a Family History Center in it. On Sat, 2 Jan 1999 18:17:45 EST, you wrote: >Pamela Holt Sayre > >Try the library at Greenup.
