    3. Just a couple of things that I'd like to point out. "Polly" was commonly a nickname. I've run into more than one Sarah who was also referred to as "Polly". and I've also seen a number of Sarah E.'s who were Sara Elizabeth aka. Elizabeth. Likewise, I have a grandmother who everyone referred to as "Sally" - no middle name - but on the 1910 Census, she was "Sarah". She had a daughter named Sara Jane, who my father referred to as Sara, while she and the rest of the family used "Jane". I think you're very close to unraveling a complex relationship. The important thing is to avoid jumping to conclusions before all the evidence is in. Also, note that the Civil War occurred in the 1863-1865 time frame. That could easily account for an untimely death or family separation.
