My Grandmother worked in the Williams Shoe factory in Portsmouth until it closed down. I don't remember when it closed but I believe I was still in grade school so that would have been in the 50's. It was a very large employer in Portsmouth along with Detroit Steel and the railroad and I think they are all shut down now. Larry Jones
