Dear Clarence and All Researchers of Greenup County, Kentucky, I, too, am researching the COOPER surname in Greenup County, Kentucky, and neighboring counties. The cause of this "Labor of Love" is my search for the parents of my third-great grandfather William COOPER, who married Martha Ann BARNEY, 6 May 1846, in Liberty [Lynn], Greenup County, Kentucky. Because of my goal of finding William COOPER's parents, I am studying all of the COOPER families for clues. Clarence, concerning your great great grandfather Jonathan COOPER, born 1821, and his wife Charity: Do you know their birthplaces and parents' names? Eli COOPER had a son Jonathan, who I think was born after 1822. After five years of research, I still have not separated the COOPERs of Greenup County into their respective family lines. If we could determine how many COOPER households were represented in Greenup County, we could clarify all of our research. Eli COOPER and his descendants were one COOPER line. My third-great grandfather William COOPER, who was first recorded in Greenup County transactions in 1846, was apparently of a separate, unrelated line of COOPERs. William COOPER was [supposedly] born about 1822 in Massachusetts or Connecticut. How about your COOPERs? Thanks! Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Lorain, Ohio
