Betty Lou, Thanks for getting me on the Greenup Co. discussion list. Here is my brief family history that I would like to get out there for help. I have researched everything Greenup has on micro film and have been to Greenup Co. (briefly) twice. Abner Holt married 10/27/1834 Massey Crane with Rueben Barber as bondsman. (Rueben Barber himself married Mary Frances Crain). James Holt married 2/20/1835 Ann(a) Crane with Abner W. Holt as bondsman with consent of Nancy (Holt) mother of Ann, and consent of Abner Holt. Abner & Massey are never in the Greenup records after their marriage. Nancy Holt appears in 1850 age 65 born in Va with son John Holt age 22 born in Va. James and Ann(a) continue to live in Greenup and raise their family. Children: 1. Mildred A. 2. Francis 3. Abner 4. Catherine 5. John (James) 6.Mary 7. Amanda (my great grandmother) 8. Bell. Abner fought in Civil War and went to Elizabeth Township in Lawrence Co. Oh. Mary married John Henry Ramey and remained in Greenup Co. I believe Bell died about the same time as Ann(a) before 1870. Amanda never married, but had 1. Laura Holt Williams 2. Tom (Thomas) Holt killed on the C&O 1916. 3. William Holt married Maggie Roberson and lived in Wurtland 4. John Holt my (grandfather) married Georgia Roberson and lived at Wurtland. I am looking for the parentage of Abner and James and where in Va they were from. I think there is a strong connection between the Crane's and Holt and Mosley's. Catherine Crane married Preston Mosley and in 1850 Nancy and John lived in close proximity. Help!
