    3. Carter and Greenup Researchers, I just spoke with an official regarding death records for ancestors in the State of WV. The WvGenWeb reports that WV Death Records are available from 01 Jan 1920 to present. I have been informed that records are available dating from 1853 (at local courthouses/where available). Death records stored at the archives are available from 1917 to the 1970's. If you want to order a death record for someone that died in WV from 1917 to the 1970's and you live outside of WV, do the following. 1. Make a check payable to DIVISION OF CULTURE AND HISTORY for $10 (includes out of state research fee, certificate fee, etc.) 2. Send a written request (no phone orders at this time) to: ARCHIVES and HISTORY LIBRARY CULTURAL CENTER 1900 KANAWHA BLVD, EAST CHARLESTON, WV 25305-0300 3. Include a self addressed stamp envelope so they can return your record. 3. I assume you should at least include the following information with your request. 1. INDIVIDUALS FULL NAME 2. INDIVIDUALS DATE OF DEATH 3. INDIVIDUALS COUNTY OF DEATH 4. OTHER HELPFUL TIDBITS OF INFO, BUT NOT YOUR WHOLE FAMILY TREE :-) I hope this is helpful. Thanks, Darrell -- Darrell Smith dsmith@mis.net
