Greetings! I am researching the IRWIN surname, which appears to have settled in Old Town, in Greenup County back in the late 1800s. I show my branch of the family there in the 1870 census, but not in the 1850 census. I have traced my gr-gr-grandfather James C. IRWIN Sr. back to his birth in Ross County, Ohio in 1823. He was married to Sarah A. WILSON, who was born in 1829 in Pennsylvania. James C. Sr.'s father's name was supposed to have been James Hughes IRWIN (spouse as yet unknown), born in 1802 in Ross County, Ohio. James Hughes Irwin's father's name was supposed to have been John IRWIN (b. 1770). John's spouse was Anna STEELE. I would really like to make the link backwards from James C. IRWIN Sr. more concrete, and maybe identify when my family came to America. I am also looking into the CURRY and CAUDILL surnames. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mike Irwin (mirwin@cinergy.com) http://www.geocities.com/heartland/2717/ (personal home page) http://www.geocities.com/heartland/meadows/2717/ (genealogy)
