HANNAH, is the defense attorney for the TOLLIVERS in the examining trialin the murder of W.T. NICHOLL, U.S. Bailiff, which occured last February. The murder was a bloody affair. The defendent fled the county but was later returned and is now before the court, The trial result is not known at this time but much crooked swearing is expected, M.M. REDWINE is the Commonwealths Attorney. May 18, 1882, pg 2, Tar Kiln, - Miss NANCY HOLBROOK married, at her parents home, GEORGE RENTROE, , late of Owen Co, REV ROSE performed the ceremony, REV ROSE also officiated at the marriage of HENRY G. BARKER, a Morgan Co Native now hailing from Missouri poassed through here on the 17 th enroute to Elk Fork, to attend the funeral of his brother, THOMAS BARKER, shot and killed with a supposedly empty pistol by JAMES HUTCHINSON June 1, 1882, pg 1, Ten yr old GEORGE HOLBROOK killed a wild turkey last week with a stone April 20, 1882, pg 4, W.P. WARD and Family who moved to Kansas in February , have moved back to Elliott Co. MRS ELIZABETH FRALEY, has bought a fine lot of medicines from ANDERSON ISON, for her practice. MRS FRALEY has been in the practice of medicine for the last 15 yrs. REV FRANK RICE and REV JAMES FRALEY , of the M.E. Church South, preach at the Newcomb school every 2 nd Sunday, Y.T. RICE and A.C. FRALEY had abt 75 panels of fence burned last week; it is thought that some person maliciously set the woods on fire. Our farmers should turn their attention to the cultivation of tobacco , a ready cash crop.
