Valerie, when I was a small child circa1950, my g'ma called us rook also ( pronunciation) dad told me that he remembered being called O'Rourke, but when he entered the service for WW 1 the preacher spelled it Ruark. I have some data from my step sister, but the name book never came up. let me know if I can help, my grandfather Thomas Ruark was killed at pond run, I think about 1912-- I'm not sure never could get his death certificate-- it was a horse trader who shot him in his front yard-- rode away -- never was punished as far as I know. according to my dad.
