JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON BESSIE ALLEN FROM THE MADISON COUNTY (OH) PRESS 12/21/07 Bessie Ann Joseph Allen, 97, of Washington Court House, OH died December 19, 2007 at the Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident since August 29, 2006. Mrs. Allen was born October 29, 1910, in Greenup, KY, to Elmer and Minnie Davis Joseph. Although she had formerly lived in Mt. Sterling, OH, she lived most of her life in Fayette County, OH. She had formerly worked at the P. Hagerty Shoe Factory, the Proctor Farm in Madison County and had been a substitute cook at Bloomingburg School. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her first husband, James Roby Smith in 1970; by her second husband, Donald Raymond Allen in 1985; a son, Richard Marion "Dick" Smith; a daughter, Mary Ellen Smith; four brothers, William "Jum," Edward, Jesse and C. Maynard Joseph; three sisters, Rose Jordan, Irene Lipscomb and Mae Ireland. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Mary Jane Smith of Washington Court House, OH, James R. "Buck" and Diana "Scott" Smith! of Bloomingburg, OH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta "Lill" and Norman Rodgers of Mt. Sterling, OH, Patricia Ann and T. R. Rupert of Columbus, OH; 19 of the most wonderful grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald L. "Sonny" Joseph and his wife, Phyllis, of Washington Court House, John Joseph of Bloomingburg; a sister, Norma Marlene Cartwright of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. December 22, 2007, at the KIRKPATRICK FUNERAL HOME, Washington Court House. The Rev. Dortha Ross, pastor at the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, will be officiating. Interment will follow at Madison Mills Cemetery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
