    3. Thank you! Thank you everyone for all the help and information. I just love this list! I saw were supposedly John Merritt served in the Civil War and I have sent for those records. Two out of three problems/questions answered now and I am so happy! I went to the Lawrence Co site and saw some other marriages that might possibly belong to my family. What a find!!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Griesan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 05, 2004 9:55 AM Subject: [KyGreenup] John Merritt > Kathy, > There is a marriage for John Merritt to Mary E. 3. Hey, Kathy... I saw these posts and was thinking more about it... I checked to see if the town of Walsenburg was in Huerfano, Colorado... Just as a reality check on the info. It is. So I searched that location and found Mary Merritt there with 5 kids (ages 12-26) three of which were born after 1880 and that I had been previously unaware of. It says she's had 9 kids with 7 living. Being that she is there as a widow in 1900 tends to make me think that it IS quite likely that her husband, John, died there as you were told. Why else would she be there at that time? If you have access to the 1900 census, you can find her in CO, Huerfano, 6th precinct, Walsenburg, Page 3B. If you don't have access, contact me and I'll get you the info. She's there again in 1910, in Walsenburg, ED 84, Page 14B. I also find several of her sons in subsequent years (1910-1930) in that location. I couldn't find Mary in either KY or CO in 1920. I also couldn't find the 1930 Greenup entry you mentioned. (I also checked Upshur, WV.) Can you give me more details on that so I can record the reference?
