Mike and I have decided to buy a quilt while we are in Kentucky at the regional genealogy reunion in Paintsville. I would much prefer to buy one from a sweet country lady than from a shop. I need a king size. Does anyone know anyone who makes and sells quilts in Eastern KY? Thanks a bunch! Sharon Young Jebavy <>< [email protected]
Hello Sharon, Your best bet is to contact quilt shops in the area for the names of quilters who sell their work. Here are some websites which list quilt shops in KY. For a king size quilt, the cost may be $1,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the pattern, and the amount of quilting on it. Handmade American quilts are much more expensive than the ones made in China which are sold in stores like Penney's. http://hometown.aol.com/ldrshbbypat/quiltshops/kentucky.html http://planetpatchwork.com/travel/kentucky.htm http://www.quilttownusa.com/Chitra/Wholesale/kentucky.htm http://www.kathkwilts.com/shops/ (click on Kentucky on the left side of the screen) Sandy (a quilter in VA) =============== Currently researching surnames GILMORE, POLLOCK, REYNOLDS who lived in VA (Rockbridge Co, Montgomery Co & Pulaski Co) WV (Logan Co & Huntington area) KY (Carter Co, Elliot Co, Greenup Co, & Rowan Co.)
