Just thought I would post to see if anybody recognizes any of my PORTER, STEPHENSON & MURPHY Family The Genealogy of my families MURPHY/HINKLE/RUTHERFORD/FERRELL GENEALOGY Elliot Murphy Sr. b. 1875 in either Pike Co, KY or WV d 1961 Greenup Co KY It is believed that Elliott was married 3 times. First marriage to Tennessee (Francis ) Maynard her parents were Young & Hicansis ( not sure of the spelling) In the 1900 Mingo Co, WV census it showed Elliott Murphy & Tennessee Maynard Murphy. with there Children Robert & Mabel & his brother John. Not sure what happened to Tennessee. He married a second time to ?? a third time to my grandmother Rosa Hinkle b. d. 1973 Greenup Co, KY. She was the dau. of Jacob & Nellie Stanley Hinkle/ It is believed that the parents of Elliott Murphy Sr. were Mary Murphy & ????????? But I have found out although I haven�t got to the documentation part the parents of Mary Murphy was Andrew Murphy & Juda Rutherford. Andrew�s parents were John & Rebecca Jane (Jennie) Ferrell Murphy. John was the son of Gabriel Jr. (B.1766-d.1819) & Clarey Herndon Murphey. Gabriel Murphey Jr. was the son of Gabriel Murphey Sr. & Mary?? Elliott & Rosa had the following children not sure if it�s in order. Madeline, Maryann, Lilly, Ruth,(died when she was about 3.) Harold, Elliott JR. ( my dad married Monnie Stephenson) James Thomas. PORTER/STEPHENSON/BEAR/STRATTON/KEESEE/Lawhorn My mom is Monnie Stephenson Murphy. Living Her parents were Dora ( Dorothy) Porter 26 May 1899 ? died 9 Jan 1960 in Portsmouth Ohio. & Jackson Stephenson. Dora�s parents were William B.24 Dec 1862 Carter Co. KY D.19 Feb 1935 Greenup Co. KY & Mary Bear Porter B. 17 Nov 1865 Carter Co. KY D 14 Aug. 1949 Ross Co. OH. William�s parents were James B. 8 Feb 1839 Morgan Co. KY D ? & Susan Kegley Porter B & D ? James�s parents were William B.1802 in VA D. ? & Rebecca Flannery Porter B 1807 D. ? . Mary Bear�s parents were Peter & Rachel Fultz (although some say it was Presley) Bear. Peter was the son of Henry & Dorina Keesee ( I�ve seen both Keesee & Bear spelled a lot of different ways) Bear. My grandfather was Jackson Stephenson. he was born 26 May 1892 D. 31 March 1937. Jackson�s parents were Mack & Mary Stratton Stephenson. Mack B. 1867 D. 1 March 1948. ( after Mary died in 1938 Mack re-married a Emma Bailey) The Children of Mack & Mary were Elza B. 21 Jan. 1888--Myrtle 18 Sept 1889--Anna 28 Feb 1891-- Jack 6 May 1892---Manda 3 May 1894--Emma 3 Oct 1895-Nettie 15 Oct 1897--Thomas Virgil 7 Oct 1899--Dora 10 April 1901-- Elwood 14 1902--Luther 16 Feb 1905--Melvin 23 April 1908--Homer 2 Jan 1910. Mack�s parents were Samuel Preston & Amanda Lawhorn Stephenson. Samuel was B.14 Jan 1840 D. 14 Dec. 1917. Amanda was B.16 Jan 1846 D. 4 Jan 1919. Amanda was the dau. of David & Malinda Fergusson Lawhorn The Children of Samuel & Amanda Lawhorn Stephenson were Charles B Adams Co. OH. d. 1962 Greenup Co. KY Robert b. 1884 Adams Co, OH d. 1981 Greenup Co, KY Mack B. abt 1868. D.abt 1948 Bill Andy married Isabella Pruitt Isaac married a Pruitt Lizzie Lousie Emeretta This is all I know about this family. Thanks in advance for your help.
