Dear Subscribers to the Greenup County, Kentucky Mailing List, Are there any researchers who are interested in the RANKINS surname? Benjamin Rankins and his wife Lavina "sold" a town lot in the village of Greenupsburg, Greenup County, Kentucky to the heirs of Squire Barney on July 29, 1838. The selling price was one dollar. The town lot was designated Lot Number Nine. This deed is in Deed Book "G", page 16. Benjamin S. Rankin married Lavinia Fuqua on April 3, 1826 in Greenup County. How did it come about that Benjamin and Lavinia Rankin(s) conveyed Lot Number Nine to the widow Rebecca (Douglas) Barney for one dollar? Thank you for your assistance in gaining a greater understanding of the circumstances. Sincerely, Randal W. Cooper
