Author: MegLawson Surnames: Delph Blakeman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.greenup/2478.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Chester and Letitia were my great grandparents. I was always told that they called her "Tish", but she is also listed on census records as "Lettie". My research shows her maiden name as "Blakeman" rather than "Blakemore". She and Chester are buried together in the Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. I have a picture of the headstone somewhere... will try to find and scan if anyone is interested. I never met them or my grandfather, so all I have is what my mom knows, which is very little, and what I have found online. I would love to hear from other relatives. 2. Louella "Ella" was the daughter of William Gray & Hannah Meenach. Ella was born January 1873, Greenup Co. KY, died between 1910 and 1920, Greenup Co. KY. She is buried in the Hardin Cemetery at Siloam, Greenup Co. KY. Ella married Dudley Morton, about 1895. Dudley was born Feb. 1869, Greenup Co. KY, died around 1928, and he is buried in the Hardin Cemetery, at Siloam. The parents of William Gray was Thomas Lloyd Gray, born 1755 in Prince George Co. MD and Mary Bonifant, born 7 April 1764. Ella had a brother, Francis Marion Gray who was married to Nellie Morton, and a sister Fanny who was married to John R. Morton. John R. Morton and Dudley were brothers, sons of James and Penelope Morton. Nellie who married Francis Marion Gray was the daughter of Clay Morton and Martha Gamamon. I don't know if Clay Morton and James Morton, were connected, but they probably were. Don Meenach In a message dated 6/27/2007 10:44:38 P.M. Author: traverse1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.greenup/6307/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would like to thank those who sent cards and mementos to my father who turned 99 years old on June 18th. He was excited and amazed that people acknowledged his birthday. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. As I was visiting with my dad on his birthday I asked him what he remembered about Carter and Greenup counties and he couldn't remember much since he left there 79 years ago when he was 20. He said he was born in Greenup county and lived 3 miles east of Kehoe and said Laurel was 4 miles from where he lived. In the early 1920's they moved to Carter City in Carter county. He said in the winter time the roads were so bad with mud they couldn't get out. He recalled that when they lived in Carter county, Bill McGuire had the mail route from Carter City to Grayson which he thought was about 15 miles. He said one time Bill McGuire left his horse and walked his mail route and when someone asked him where his horse was he said he could make better time without it. His said in Carter county the nearest and only neighbor was Robert Grizzle who lived across the hill from them. He said his uncle was Mack Arthur was Sheriff of Greenup county. (William McKinley Arthur, son of Benjamin Arthur and Hester Ann Reeves was sheriff from 1914-1917) That is about all he could remember at the time. Thank you all again.
