    1. Re: [KYGREENU] Looking for parents - Cain/Hood
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jeanjo1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.greenup/6315.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Nothing found for Susan Hood b 1815 or James Githens in the book, The Tunis Hood Family. The Cain children are not listed either. Andrew Hood Jr married Mary Ann (Polly) Cain, daughter of Jacob Cain with John Cain as bondsman in Greenup Co and they had children in that time frame. Whether Mary Ann had a brother who married a Hood is not recorded in this book. That would have been a practice often seen in families. There was also Henry Hood who married Margaret Cain (d/o Robert Cain) in 1811 in present Clark Co, Ky. Henry's father was "Major" Andrew Hood who died in Greenup Co. Major Hood lived about a half mile above Little Sandy. Again you would be looking for an unrecorded sister of Henry Hood who married a Cain male. Sorry I could not be of more help. Not only are there several James Hollingsworths married to different women (I have to sort out if it's the same James), but James is listed on some documents as Hollandsworth and Hollingsworth...and on the 1870 census, they dropped the s in Hollingsworth. And then, of course, Harding is also Hardin...and I'm also dealing with Dickerson/Dickenson/Dickison, but that's a whole other story on another branch. Thanks to you saying you found James and America on the 1870 census, I found them using "Sounex" instead of "Exact" in my search--I hadn't found them using Hollingsworth or Hollandsworth...never thought to use Hollingworth. The census was done just two weeks after they got married. Now all I have to do is sit down with paper and pen and try to connects all the dots because there are too many names floating around in my head. Thanks so very much, and I'll probably post again to get help on the details. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Burilla Hardin is on the next page, with her husband, Jacob Willis. In the Willis family right next door to James and America Hollingworth is William Hardin who is a year younger than America. I've found that America (Young) McAllister Hardin had three children with Seymour Hardin. The last being William Fuston Hardin who, I believe is the one living next door, in the Willis household, to James and America Hollingsworth. I think you've found the right family. 3. I believe that America (Young) McAllister Hardin had two children with Seymour Hardin, Burillar and Samuel. Burillar was born in 1831 and Samuel in 1832. I'd be thinking that, perhaps, Samuel had a daughter whom he named after his mother. The timing would be roughly right for such a daughter to reach "marrying age" around 1870. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have anything on the marriages or children of Burillar and Samuel, at least not in my genealogy database (if only I managed to keep it up-to-date with all of the bits of pieces I have stored in other places on my computer).
