I really appreciate all of your help. I was looking at the family trees on ancestry for W.C. McGuire, there was actually only one and that submitter has Elizabeth's maiden name as Coffey, so I have written a comment for her, maybe she will respond also. But, if she is a Patrick, looks like you may have picked out the right family. I wanted her to be a daughter of Jesse Patrick and Mary Marshall who also lived in Morgan Co. Oh well, the search continues! Thanks again for your help. Are you by chance researching the Patricks also? Sue Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Thank you for the message. I am also the g-grandson of George A. I knew your father and visited with him a couple of times when I was in Kehoe. I presume you are the sister of Gary. I have been in touch with him and Dorothy. They were interested in the French Robertson family reunion which I have attended a couple of times in Lexington. I don't know if they made it or not. I am the Grandson of Samuel Green Robertson and Sarah Jane "Sally" Duncan and the son of George Sr. (I'm a Jr.) The wives and children of George are really mixed up. No one seems sure of who belongs to who, but Green was the son of George and Emma Barr. I have to cut this short as I'm on my way to Atlantic City. I live in Philadelphia, But I'll be back Sunday and write some more. I'll post this too. i don't know if anyone needs this. It came from a McAllister gr-gr-gr-grandchild who kindly sent it to me. "My great great great grandfather (John McAllister) was the brother of James Benton McAllister, who married America Young. One of James and America's children, also named James, came out to Washington territory with the first wagon train of Amercan settlers. So, he's an important historical figure here. He was killed in the indian war of 1855-56." I have found his name in Chapter XIII: American Settlers organize a government, Incidents in 1843, 1844, and 1845. Without her information I would not have been able to make the connection. page 104 Immigration of 1844 >From an address before the Oregon Pioneer Association in 1876, by one of the number, Hon. John Minto, it appears that the immigration of 1844 only reached about 800, including children; that of the 235 able to bear arms who crossed the plains, two died on the way, and seventeen turned off to California. The following are the names of all, as near as could be ascertained by Mr. Minto and those assisting him, of the immigrants to the Pacific Coast that year. page 105 ... 3. Did you request his service record or the complete pension record? The service record usually has very little other than muster records, but the pension record usually has a lot more information. Use NATF Form 85. You can request the form from the National Archives on line. If you did request the complete pension record, you have probably gotten everything they had. I suppose it is possible that your ggm didn't apply for a pension, but I think most of the widows did -- even if they only rec'd. about $2.00 a month for themselves and each child, it was a help in those hard times. Good luck, Virginia My ggf was in his 50s had six children when he enlisted.. He was killed just over a month later in his second battle. My poor g-grandmother didn't have a recorded marriage license, and had to get a lawyer, appear before a notary and send affidavits from her mother, friends and neighbors to verify that they knew she & her husband were married & the kids were his. Then about 10 years later the government thought she had married again, and cut off her pension (which has "risen" to about $10 a month by then), and she had to jump through those hoops all over again. Most of the kids were of age by then, and they signed affidavits for their mother. It took months to re-establish her eligibility. The entire exchange was in the packet, along with his original enlistment, with physical description and his signature, and also the record of the battle where he was killed, and exactly where the bullet hit him. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia Reel" <nibbler060@sbcglobal.net> To: <kygreenu@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2007 5:42 PM Subject: Re: [KYGREENU] Brooker/Dunlap > > virginia, How do I go about requesting pension records.
