I would like to thank all who posted queries and messages on our digest V98 # 1. Heather, i have been to your Lawrence County, Ohio Web Page, searching for my wife's Fannin line who lived on Uhlem Branch, near Wurtland. As darell Smith stated, for some reason the people on the Kentucky side crossed over the bridge and were married in Ironton, Lawrenc co., KY. That is where i found George Bryant Fannin, born 1894 and his wife Dora Ellen Lowe Fannin were married. Heather thanks for providing the Lawrence County, Ohio information. I also would like to thank Elora Goshe for posting her query, as i am also researching the Debord family My Leah Debord married Hezekiah Parsons on 6 April 1826, in Washington, CO., VA. Elora do you know who the parents of your Nancy Debord is? I need the ancestors of my Leah Debord. I am Paul Leadingham, born 1932 in Carter CO., KY. son of Rev Meredith Franklin Leadingham and Belva adkins leadingham, who was a minister in Greenup for several years in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Rev. M. F. Leadingham is the son of Jesse Caudle Leadingham and Delilah Jane Wells of Little Fork Creek, Carter CO., Kentucky. Jesse caudle Leadingham is the son of William Thomas Leadingham and Naomi Parsons. Naomi Parsons is the daughter of Hezekiah and Leah Debord Parsons of Elliott and Carter CO., when Carter CO., was a part of Greenup CO. William Thomas Leadingham was the son of Peter and Sarah Hamilton Leadingham who settled on Leadingham Branch on LIttle Fork Creek, Carter CO., Kentucky and raised nine children who in turn lived and raised their families. I have traced all Leadingham's in astern Kentucky back to Peter and Sarah Hamilton Leadingham. I will share information on the Leadingham and allied families of Eastern Kentucky. Mary: why don't you post the oituaries you have in the Greenup News as i get the Greenup News in Frederick, Md. where i now live. Paul Leadingham in Frederick, MD.

Greenup County Researchers, I have received several reports of problems with the Greenup County Discussion List. If you receive this message you are subscribed to the list successfully. I just checked with the administrative tools and discovered that we have 18 subscribers in MAIL mode and another 6 in DIGEST mode (24 total). I was unable to find a problem with the list. I suspect that since the list is new and correspondence is very low that it may appear as if the list isn't working. I would like to encourage all list members to post queries on a regular basis as well as Greenup genealogy/history related topics that we can discuss together. To get things started allow me to recommend the Lawrence Register Web site at http://www.wwd.net/user/historical This site is devoted to genealogy/history in the Lawrence County, OH area (just across the OH River from Greenup County). Many of our Greenup ancestors moved back and forth across the OH River. I have found a number of marriages for my ancestors that lived their entire lives in Greenup, but for one reason or another married in Lawrence County or Scioto County, OH. You can locate the Scioto County, OhGenWeb at http://www.scioto.org/Scioto/index.html I hope that everyone had a happy and safe holiday season! Darrell Smith -- Darrell L. Greenup County Researchers (15 of us at this time), Several individuals are waiting to post queries because they would like to see a sample listing to use as a template. I have decided to list my first query below as an example. Seeking information on the family of William TAYLOR and Sophia SMITH, daughter of Benjamin Preston SMITH and Rebecca VAN BIBBER. Sophia was born around 1864 in Greenup Co., KY and was married to William on 20 Oct 1881 in Greenup Co., KY. Family sources have listed Sophia and William with at least one child named John. If you have information on this family line, contact Darrell Smith - dsmith@mis.net --- My thoughts on posting queries ... It's always a good idea to keep your query as brief as possible to hold the reader's interest. Additionally, you should always list at least one or two dates to help researchers determine the appropriate time frame for the individuals listed in the query. As a general rule, I try to list surnames in UPPERCASE to help readers quickly identify the individuals I'm tracking. When you reply to a query the email address is setup to respond to the individual who posted the query and not to the list. However, if you make a Greenup connection, drop a line to the group and let us know about your success. You can email the entire list of subscribers via KYGREENU-L@rootsweb.com Another helpful/thoughtful idea is to list a brief subject line that reflects the content of the message/query that you are posting. Ex) TAYLOR Query Season Greetings! Darrell Smith -- Darrell L. Hello all from sunny Frederick, Maryland. It is good to join fellow members from Kentucky and see what is on your all's minds. I to hope this format grows to the point of sharing Genealogy information with members from across the net. Paul Leadingham

I also have Tom DUNCAN married Ada ENGLAND b. 05 Mar 1883, daughter of David Russell ENGLAND and Caroline BROWN. They had at least one daughter named Betty Jo DUNCAN. I'm afraid that is the extent of my DUNCAN data. I have the following GRIZZELL entries Nancy Elizabeth GRIZZELL m. Ellis Elmer HEABERLIN on 09 Mar 1939 Carter Co., KY. I also have Leroy ENGLAND b. 01 Feb 1905 d. 25 Nov 1961 married Ethyl Irene GRIZZLE b. 13 Feb 1914 d. 20 Jan 1988. I wonder if they GRIZZLE spelling shows up much in your research? I know it's not much, but hopefully it will be something useful to you. Maybe exchaning some data sets like this on Greenup families will help us make connections in our research :-) Thanks, Darrell Smith At 07:45 AM 12/15/97 -0800, you wrote: >Hello > > My name is Phyllis "Grizzell" Waddell. Hello researchers, This is just a quick note to let everyone know that the list is starting to grow a little. We went from three subscribers to eight over the weekend. I would imagine that once we have 20 or so subscribers that the list will be a good place to post queries and other interesting information. If you can think of any ways we can make the list grow, let me know or announce them on the list. I look forward to emailing with everyone :-) To you and yours ... Happy Holidays! Hey Guys, Just testing the system. Darrell, I like the rules. I think you have to run a list like they attempt to do at Roots-L or any other major list to stop potential problems. Bruce Bruce E.
