I am interested in finding anyone who is researching the family of Soloman Hedges. Soloman was of Wellsburg WV and married a Miss Miller of Greenup. She was the daughter of John Miller of Lawrence County Ohio. I have found Soloman on the 1811 Greenup tax list. I have much info on both sides of this relationship to share with anyone who is interested. Thank You Shirley
My gggrandfather was Thomas Jefferson Campbell, b 1814 Greenup Co, Ky. He was the son of Jesse and Catherine (Zornes) Campbell. He married 1) 1836 Emzy Zornes (5 children); 2) 1852 Harriett Foster (1 child); 3) 1854 Cynthia Brown (10 children); 4) ca 1867 Amanda Harris (2 children); 1873 Sarah Johnson (4 children). I descend from T.J. and Emzy. I have extensive files on this family, including the Zornes family. I would like to correspond with the descendants of T.J and his other wives. I will exchange information with anyone who descends from these lines. Thank you Shirley Ramos
Have you sent for a death certificate yet?? It should give place of birth and parents but not all do as the info is always given by family. Some may not know or have inaccurate info but most are correct and can be a big help. South Shore is in Greenup County and the people at the courthouse have been very helpful. Lets try to help on this confusing family (g) I have marriage books for Greenup from 1803 to 192? and the only Anna Lawson married here was 28 Dec. 1902 to a James H. Williams. There were three William Walkers married during that time. 27 Feb. 1872 to a Matilda Wurts, 10 Mar 1880 to a Iba F. M. Bryan, and a William Jr. on 10 Aug 1893 to a Cynthia Vallance. I found an Amanda B. Smith who married a Thomas H. Gooch on 22 May 1901. Hope I haven't added to the confusion. Hi Gang, Maybe someone can help me with this? My Great Grandfather John Thomas Walker was supposedly born in Greenup County Kentucky about May 1860. I haven't proved this yet. I got this information from a cousin. He died in 1937 and is buried in South Shore Kentucky. He married Amanda Jane Smith in the same Greenup County and had 9 children one of whom was my Grandfather Joseph Clarence Walker the others were Emma, Taylor, Margaret, John H., Rachel, Mary, Ella, and Richard D. Now the Walkers in this area were supposedly descended from a Samuel Walker born about 1763 in possibly Hampshire County Virginia, Wife Anna Lawson born April 1769 also in Virginia. According to all the information I have: The Samuel Walker family of Virginia came down the Ohio River on a flatboat in 1812. They stopped at what has since been known as Walker's Landing, near what is Siloam now. Among their children were Hannah, who was born in 1800 in Virginia and married Nathaniel Warner in 1825, James, who married Nancy, one of the seven daughters of Aaron Kinney of Portsmouth, Ohio and who lived on the farm. They built a very modern brick home for that period where they reared four children, William, Samuel, Mary and Peter Kinney. William married Ella, daughter of John T. and Lydia Tanner King. Both William Walker and his wife both died leaving two young children, Roy and May, both of whom went to California. Samuel married Lizzie Bahner and Mary married William Burns and moved to California. Roy and May mentioned above, lived with them for some time. Peter Kinney married Mary Warner and after his death she and her family moved to Louisville. Samuel, a third son, married Anna Lawson. As can be seen from this paragraph from the book, "History of Greenup County Kentucky" by Biggs and Mackoy Samuel a third son married Anna Lawson. If Samuel the father married Anna Lawson how could his third son marry his mother? Anyway one of those conflicting recounts we run into all the time. If anyone can help me with these Walkers I would be forever indebted. Billy Walker
Searching for an area on the Ohio River called (in 1811) Mouth of Brasch. (spelling may be wrong) The marriage of Elizabeth Guess and Uriah Setters occurred, according to pension papers, "on the Mouth of Brasch on the Ohio River. Can anyone tell me where this area is located? Thanks! Lin T. altcomm@rr1.net
Patrick, Yes, I would like to have that information. I appreciate your thoughtfullness. I do remember meeting you at the library in Ashland and you sent me some material on the family of Charle and Sarah Ann (Hall) Wooten. Hi Bruce, I've noticed your ancestors and mine seem to have been in Greenup and Fleming County. Must be a connection between the DUNAWAYs and PENLANDS. Let's talk, Milly
I am researching the surnames Hogsten/Hogston, Rowley, Dillon, Deaver, Ethington and Jenkins. I have found evidence for all of these families in either Scioto Co., OH and/or Greenup Co., KY. In the late 1800's, early 1900's, my grandfather,, John Thomas ROWLEY married Susie JENKINS and my grandmother Elizabeth Jane (Bessie) Hogston married Green Birch ETHINGTON. Bessie was born and married in Greenup, Co., KY. Both John and Bessie lost their spouses, through death, and married. I would be interested in countacting anyone with info on these lines. Thank you, Cyndy P.S. I am the granddaughter of John and Bessie Dr. Cynthia M. Galloway Assoc.
