Dear Researchers of Greenup County, Kentucky, William Douglas, Junior and Izabella Cooper obtained a marriage bond in Greenup County, 13 Nov 1830. The bondsman was Robert Cooper. Were Isabella Cooper and Robert Cooper related? If so, what was the relationship? Do you have more information on William Douglas? William Douglas [ Senior or Junior?] was enumerated in the 1830 Census of Greenup County, on page 62. In William Douglas's household was one male 10-15; one male 15-20; and one male 50-60. There was one female, 40-50. On page 66 of this census was Robert Cooper, who was 20-30. In his household was one female 20-30 and one female 60-70 [who was she?]. Ed, My Myrtle was born in Greenup county to Robert and Elizabeth Diles Penix and all her brothers and sisters lived there. Robert served in the Civil War. Many of them are buried at Noris Cemeterey in Hopewell, KY, Greenup county, I was there two years ago, but don't remember her there. All I have on Myrtle was she married a Charles Slim and died in 1905 in Naples, KY. This is very vague from one of the other Penix researchers. You might contact Bob at bob@hockinghills.net. He has a lot more information on the Penix family. I don't find a Gilbert in this line we have, but some Penix came up from down south that were unrelated. Bob may have something on that. I am looking for a Thomas and a William Cooper. Tom Cooper was married to a Myrtle Penix. William Cooper was married to a Mary D. Blevins. Mary Blevins and Myrtle Penix were first cousins from the Gilbert Penix line of Greenup County. William was born on Aug 20, 1884 In Hoods, KY and married Mary d Blevins on Sep27, 1910. He died on Sep. 27, 1959 all in Greenup County. William and Tom's father's name was Wesley Cooper and was married to Mary Jane WATKINS in Greenup County. The Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery is located on US route 23 about two miles east of South Shore, Greenup CO., KY., or about 6 or 7 miles east of Portsmouth, Ohio on the Kentucky side. The cemetery is not small by any means. I do no live in the area any more, but know where it is. Paul Leadingham.

Hi Siloam Cemetery is probably located near two churches at Siloam, KY which is located near US 23 between Greenup and South Portsmouth. It is on the flood plain of the Ohio River where the C & O RR crosses the Ohio River. These two churches had an easement dispute in the early 30's and one of them installed some posts to block the right of way of its neighbor. The other church hired my mothers half brother to dynamite the posts and in the process he lost an arm and one eye Dispite all of this he raised his familly including two grand children on his farm at Oldtown, Ky. You should have seen him plow in spite of his handicap. Jesse Stuart described this tragedy in one of his books, but he had the facts totally distorted. Intersting? Charles L. Urban
