Dear List, For those of you that have asked me for clarification... The LDS Family History Web site is not yet on line. When it is, it will be able to be reached at http://www.familysearch.org. It is scheduled to be released in April. There is a beta test being conducted right now for a few testers (who will have passwords for access). The site that was announced on several of the mailing lists yesterday may have a lot of good information on it, but it is not the official LDS site; you will notice that it is a commercial site engaged not only in the accumulation of genealogical links but also the selling of various products. As soon as the Family History Site is ready for release, it will be widely announced. I suspect that the formal launch will be closer to the beginning of summer. Sharon Prince Parker, Colorado
This is not the LDS Family History Web site; it has extensive links to many different genealogical databases, but it is a definitely a commercial site. As soon as the official LDS site is available for the spring beta test, it will be announced. It shouldn't be long. There will be a meeting in the Boyd County Library of a group to discuss computer genealogy. This group will meet infrequently to discuss software, computers, Internet or anything else to enhance our quest to document our history. This would be an opportunity share or obtain others expertise on how to better our endeavors into this fascinating hobby. The meeting will be held in the Winder room of the Boyd County Public Library in Ashland KY at 6:30 PM on Tuesday March 16, 1999. This is the first meeting of this group, it is being organized by Teri Kliaber of the staff of the library. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the discussion. Hello Brenda. You are the first person I have heard from regarding the Chapmans in Greenup. I am so happy to hear from you! William Chapman, my great grandfather married Sarah Smith March 10, 1858 in Greenup. I found them on the 1880 census. William was listed as 40 years old so he would have been born abt 1840. I would like to know who his parents are. On the 1870 census, there is a James Chapman married to Rebecca. He is listed as age 28 in 1870 so he would have been born abt 1842. Maybe William and James are brothers? I hope you have more information than I do. Can't wait to hear from you! Barbara

When I posted to the list earlier I found out I did not give a location. So I will repost it. Iam lookig for information on Jackie Rogers married Polly Huff Here is all I know about either of them ....Most of my line have been from Greenup Ky and surounding areas.Jackie and Polly had a daughter Nancy Rogers married William Riceb.1824 d.1902 in Morgan county KY. They were married in 1852 in Carter county Ky. The story from my grandmother is that Polly was arrested for moonshineing and used money from moonshine to get out of jail. This is my brick wall. Dear Researchers of Greenup County, Kentucky, Yes, the William COOPER, Tobacconist [the ONLY Tobacconist in Greenup County in 1850], whose 1850 enumeration was recently posted on the Greenup County List, was my third-great grandfather, and it was a boost to see him in print! My great great grandfather Adoniram COOPER was listed, as well. His given name, "Adoniram" was [and is] difficult to spell and to pronounce. It is pronounced "ADD-uh-NYE-rum", with the accent on the first and third syllables. I'll have to tell you about him sometime, too! Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Lorain, Ohio
What Chapmans are you looking for? I'm related to Chapmans in Greenup. Brenda
