    1. [KyGreenup] McGuire Cemetery
    2. Tom Griesan
    3. Hi! I'm trying to verify some information that was passed on to me. I understand that several of my Griffith family may be buried in McGuire Cemetery in Greenup County, Kentucky. I'm looking for three brothers, Thomas Griffith (died in 1909), Calvin Griffith (died in 1929), and Benjamin Frank Griffith (died in 1924). Does anyone know of a listing for the McGuire Cemetery there? Thanks! - Jean Griesan

    3. Have you tried the National Index to the 1880 Census? This is a multi-CD set, and though I can't find my own Great Grandfather then in Greenup County, if they were in the US, they are generally listed there!! Later, I may have time to look up the name for you---please contact me with the info, off List. 2. Randal W Cooper
    3. Dear Subscribers to the Greenup County, Kentucky Mailing List, Did the village of Greenupsburg have a post office in 1880? In 1880 and thereabouts, it appears that mail was taken across the Ohio River from the village of Haverhill, Green Township, Scioto County, Ohio to Greenupsburg. James McCoy was the postmaster at Haverhill in 1880. At least in 1887 and presumably before and after, James McCoy's son Pierson McCoy took the mail by boat from the Haverhill post office over to Greenupsburg, Greenup County, Kentucky. Was this done because the community of Greenupsburg did not have a post office? Or, was there another reason? Perhaps a steamboat stopped at Haverhill, Ohio with the mail, but not at Greenupsburg. In March of 1880, my third-great grandfather William Cooper stated that his post office address was Haverhill, Scioto County, Ohio. I have not found William Cooper in the 1880 Federal Census. One of my goals is to identify the residence of William Cooper in 1880. Thank you for any thoughts or information you may have on these points. Sincerely, Randal W. Cooper

I just cannot believe that nobody knows anything about this Family. I do know that William and John were still living there (Greenup Co.), in the 1920's because they paid a visit to my GGrandfather , who had moved himself to Daviess Co., KY. Surnames: Stephenson/Stevenson, Collins, Coffee, Osburn, Loper Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1AB.2ACI/3681 Message Board Post: Searching for information on Frank STEVENSON/STEPHENSON who married Belle COLLINS. Frank (Franklin? or Francis?) married at least two times with his first wife (Belle?) dying about 1891. He died about 1896. I believe that he had John, Della, Florence and LaVerna by his first wife (I assume that was Belle) and Clarence and Amanda by his second wife. Amanda married Unknown COFFEE and Florence married Unknown OSBURN. LaVerna (age 14) married Jasper LOPER and was living with his family in the 1900 census in Dist. 5 Alcorn, Greenup Co. Ky. with her younger brother (age 10). The names of Frank and Belle come from the death certificate of LaVerna Stevenson Loper but I am not ruling out the possibility that these may not have been their formal names as this family frequently used nicknames. Thanks, Pam

He was born abut 1780/1790. He is also found in the 1840 Carter County KY Census. Here is what I think is where this Thomas Roman fits in. I believe that he was the son of William Roman & Margaret Thompson of Russell County VA. I believe that the Rachel Roman that married Zephaniah Bryant in Greenup County in 1807 was his sister. I do have it confirmed that Rachel Roman was the daughter of the above mentioned William Roman & Margaret Thompson. The Thomas Roman that came out of Russell County VA was married to a Nancy. Would appreciate any information from anyone that has leads on this Thomas Roman.
