    3. Greenup has more than spotty records. What happened was some of the early records were damaged by flooding. Some of the records are so bad, that the mud shows up in the microfilm. Nonetheless, the records are not just for scattered years. Sharon Young Jebavy <><

    2. Can anyone tell me if "Unity" (currently south 29th Street in Ashland) was once a part of Greenup county? Having difficulty finding census records for that area for late 1800's and early 1900's. Thank you in advance for any response.

    1. Microfilm "Grayson, Greenup Co., Ky Vital Recs" on eBay
    2. June: Regarding the microfilm of the Grayson, Greenup Co., Ky Vital Recs you have for sale on eBay and that you mentioned on this list, are the records on the film (birth 1852-1938; marr/death 1852-1910) complete? It has been my understanding that most of Greenup Co.'s vital recs were destroyed except for a few scattered years in the 1850s, 1870s, and 1904. Also, I think listers would appreciate it if the buyer of this item would be willing to do lookups. Thanks. Rebecca

    2. I am hoping to connect with descendents of Helen CLICK (1877-1964). She was married to Alonzo N. MCKENZIE (1874-1912) and then Thomas J. JONES (b. 1875-d. unknown). Helen's mother, Elizabeth PRATER (1853-1932), married my gr-grandfather, Joseph MITCHELL (1854-1929). I am hoping that perhaps someone in this line may have a picture of my gr-grandfather. Thank you. Rebecca (Please forgive if you receive this message twice, as they were residents of both Greenup and Boyd counties and so I am submitting this message to both lists. Thank you.)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1AB.2ACI/3277.1.1.1.1.2.2 Message Board Post: Hello, I apologize for waiting such a long time to answer. My information shows a Wilburn M. Sturgell born 19 Nov. 1838 and died 13 Mar.1916, (married to Elvire(a) Stone) and who shows up in the 1880 Census as 39 years old; born in KY, a farmer, father's birthplace is shown as NC and mother's birthplace as VA. Elvire(a) was born 12 Aug. 1841, and passed away 22 Sept.1928. They are buried in Sharp Cemetery near Mill Point, Pocahontas County, WV. Their daughter, Almeda, born 12 Sept. 1880, was my maternal grandmother. The source of info was Sheridan, Lincoln County, WV. I've found an Elvira Stone born in VA, 32 years old in 1880, with both parents from VA. The census place for her was Fort Spring, Greenbrier Co., WV, with parents George W. Stone and Isabella Margret Stone. Somehow I don't think this is the one we're looking for. My grandfather (married to Almeda Sturgell) was John Coleman who stayed with a family named Rice (Wiley Rice). He had a brother, Andrew F. Coleman who was married 2 times, once to Flerenda (possibly C! larinda) Hall, daughter of John E. and Cynthia Hall. I am very interested in finding the other wife's name. Can you help me with this? I hope some of this info helps you. BBB
