Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Jewell was a son of the late Elliott and Emily Parker Jewell, and was born October 14, 1876 in Green County, at Eve. He was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Smith Jewell; four sons, Homer Jewell, Aetna Grove, Marshall and Asa Jewell, both of Louisville, John Jewell, Jr., Portland, Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Edgar Davis, Donansburg; two step-sons, Harold Smith, Louisville, and James Smith, Chicago, IL., two stepdaughters, Mrs. Everett Banning, Louisville, Mrs. Nora Manny, North Hollywood, Calif.; one brother, Lewis Jewell, Hodgenville; a sister, Mrs. Lyda Curry, Donansburg; thirteen grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
