V. A. Fiers died at his home near Grab, Wednesday, October 7, at the age of 84 years. The son of the late G. J. Fiers and Mrs. Louisa Jean Fiers, he was born, August 9, 1869. He was united in marriage to Dinnie Berry, August 13, 1891. To this union one son was born who died in infancy. In early life he joined the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church where he remained a member until death. He is survived by his wife, a niece, Miss Effie Judd, whom they raised from early childhood; also several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Cosby Gentry, Buford Davis, Ottis Davis, Eugene Ronald, German Simpson, Earnest Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Noah Judd, Rufus Judd, Ellis Moran, Woodson Lewis, and Vernon Judd. Funeral services ware conducted Thursday 1:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Church and burial was in the Grab Cemetery. Rev. F. T. Peppers and Rev. Terry Bishop were in charge of funeral services.
