She was 74 years and one month of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Methodist Evangelical Church at Thurlow. She was united in marriage to James Robert Gowen who preceded her in death on January 6, 1971. To this union were born two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Ruth Campbell, Columbia, Ky.; Mrs. Janel Pruitt, James Corley Gowen, and Raymond Doyle Gowen, all of Louisville. Ky. Two brothers survive: Morris Carter and Ocey Carter, both of Greensburg, Ky. Three half-sisters and five half-brothers also survive: Mrs. George Vetters, Mrs. Rue Burris, Floyd Carter, James Carter, and Cornish "Pete" Carter, all of Greensburg, Ky.; Mrs. Pansy Mayes, Radcliffe, Ky.; Bobby Carter, Louisville, Ky.; and Shirley Carter, Campbellsville, Ky. Eight g! randchildren and two great-grandchildren survive along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 1977, with burial in the Neagle Cemetery. Rev. J.H. Bloyd officiated. Pallbearers were Bobby Gene Gowen, Paul Carter, Joe Gowen, Samuel W. Jones, Melvin Berry, and Ronnie Gowen. Obituaries of Green Co.
