Mr. Milby had been in declining health for some time, having been forced to retire from his occupation of farming some several years ago. He was a son of Richard Milby and Louise Benningfield, former residents of Green County, who preceded him in death many years ago. He was married to Malinda Noe, a member of another of the old families of the county on the 27th day of April, 1881. He had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for sixty years, having served as an Elder of the church at Gabe for forty-five years, and until his death. Mr. Milby had a wide acquaintance among the citizens of this and neighboring counties, and clue to his happy disposition, love for others, and his reputation for honesty and Christian integrity, enjoyed the confidence and appreciation of a host of friends. He is survived b! y his widow, who has loyally and bravely walked by his side for 58 years in all his undertakings. Eight children: Walter F. Milby, Mrs. Iva Akridge, Mrs. Hattie L. Donan, O. G. Milby, Garnett A. Milby, Clem O. Milby, Mrs. J. C. Bennett, and Roy Milby survive. The funeral was conducted at Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon by Rev. J. W. Furkin, pastor, and Rev. D. L. Druin of the Baptist Church, in the presence of the family and a host of friends, whom he loved, and who came and with words of praise, songs and flowers, bore testimony of the esteem in which he was held. After the funeral he was laid to rest in the Old Wilson Graveyard, beneath a mass of beautiful flowers, near the resting place of his forbears of each generation, who have preceded him in death from the time of the earliest settlement in this county to the present time. The pallbearers were: Harry Gardner, Loyd Walker, Earl Henderson, Other Hall, Frank Foster, and Vontress Milby. The fl! ower girls were: Elizabeth Hodges, Ora Hazel, Joyce Dobson, Nancy Hend erson, Ann Mary Ping, Nora Henderson, Lena Gardner, Ella Caven, Hazel Crabtree, Maymie McCubbin, Nellie Foster and Irene Milby.
