Latimer of the Court of Appeals died unexpectedly at his home in Frankfort Sunday morning [1952]. He was 61 years of age. Judge Latimer would have become Chief Justice January 1, under the appellate plan of rotation. Dr. E. S. Kimbel, his physician, said Judge Latimer died of a heart attack a few minutes after arising shortly before 6:a.m. He collapsed while dressing and was dead when the doctor arrived. Judge Latimer came to the high bench as the appointee of Governor Simeon Willis, succeeding Judge Will Fulton, Bardstown, who had resigned to enter private practice in Louisville. Judge Latimer was elected to the one-year unexpired term and then re-elected to a full term of eight years in 1946. Judge Latimer was prominent in the affairs of the Methodist Church and was well known throughout the state as a lay Methodist speaker. He was a native of Omaha, III., and went to Glasgow in 1927 to begin the practice of law. Judge Latimer is survived by his wife, two so! ns, a daughter, and three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held yesterday in Frankfort with burial in the cemetery there. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
