John William Light, 81, died Saturday, April 23 of a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Higgason, Donansburg. He had served as pastor of churches in Green, Hart, Metcalfe and Barren counties for 45 years, and was a member of the Monroe Baptist Church. The son of the late Thomas Light and Mrs. Elizabeth King Light, he was born in Missouri on October 19, 1873. He was united in marriage to Miss Ettie Waters. She preceded him in death. To this union four daughters were born. Surviving are Mrs. Gladys Phillips, Horse Cave, Ky., Mrs. Harry Higgason, Donansburg, Ky.; also two sisters, Mrs. Capitola Gupton, Hardyville, Mrs. Mollie Donnin, Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Alfred Light, Hardyville, and Garnett Light, Shelbyville, Ind. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Monroe Baptist Church with Rev Carl Fancher in charge, assisted by Rev. T. S. Curry and Rev. Jewell. Burial was in the. Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rev. Harvey Puckett, Rev. ! Abraham Kerry, Rev. W. T. Jewell, Rev. Wilburn Chelf, Rev. Bruce Chelf and Rev. Leon Larimore. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
