He was married Sept 15, 1909 to Miss Etna Pierce who survives him. To this union three children were born. One son, Kirby died in infancy. He professed faith in Christ early in life and united with the Trammell's Creek Baptist Church, where he remained a member until the end, being an active member and regular attendant at church services and Sunday School as long as his health would permit. He bore his suffering with great patience, never murmuring or complaining and gave many testimonies during his illness as to his willingness and readiness to meet his Savior and would often sing and rejoice in the Lord. Besides his widow he leaves a son, Garland Hay of Horse Cave, Ky., and one daughter, Mrs. James Coakley of Belmont, Ky., one brother, W. E. Hay; three sisters, Mrs. Idaline Thompson, Mrs. Sylavine Curry a! nd Mrs. Oakley Asbury, all of Horse Cave, five grandchildren and a large number of nephews, nieces and friends who will mourn his going. Pallbearers were Harvey Pierce, A. L. Rayburn, U. B. Houk, Underwood Perkins, Arthur Shirrell, Earnest Pierce. Flower girls were Lohmann Rayburn, Ruth Allen Warf, Noreda Hay, Loretta Pierce, Barbara Houk, Brenda Hay. Funeral services were conducted at Trammells Creek Church on January 18 by Rev. Manley Towles, Rev. T. S. Curry, H..A. Curry, Rev. Saunders of Horse Cave. Burial was in the Rayburn cemetery at Pierce. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
