Johnson was born Aug. 30, 1866, departed this life June 29, 1944, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 29 days. He was the son of Andrew and Mary Johnson. He was married to Henretta Scott, March 8th, 1888. To this union was born seven children, one having died in infancy. Those surviving are his widow, Henretta Johnson, two sons, Rufus Johnson of Hatcher, Ky., Hobart Johnson, Indianapolis, Ind., Martha Johnson, Eva Edwards, Liletown, Tincha Lesley and Ellora Edwards, both of Indianapolis, Ind, 16 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, two sisters, Isabeth Mays, Indianapolis, Agnis Johnson, Dayton, Ohio. He professed a hope in Christ at the age of 12 years and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist church, later joining the Greasy Creek Baptist church of Exie, Ky. He was an ordained deacon, and Sunday School leader for 48 years. He was an honest and faithful worker both in the church and community. Through his influence he inspired many others to a higher standard of ! Christian living. He was respected by all who knew him. His funeral was largely attended. Services were conducted by the Rev.
