She was born December 14, 1921, in Greensburg, the daughter of James and Lonie (Calhoun) Shively. She attended Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Survivors include her children: Patricia "Trish" Brantley, Clinton (Gloria) Brantley, Jr., Michael Paul (Bonnie) Brantley, Kathy Brantley . and Penny Whitaker, all of Springfield, Ethel Ree B. (Cyrus) Hensley of Xenia, Ohio, Rose Pearl B. (Jay) Trimble and Kenneth Brantley of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Ray (Julia) Brantley of Corona, California; one brother, George Ernest Shively of Campbellsville; grandchildren, Alisa, Ricarolos (Shawnita), Wanda, Gyasi, Rashad, Steven, Bryan Brantley, all of Springfield, Keith Wooster, Laytoya (Dennis) Otieno and Samuel, Samaria and Tamaria Whitaker, Carolyn (Bruce) Dudley, Wanda (Curtis) Truss, Kenneth (Barbara) Thompson, Vivian (Kenneth) Williams, Jamie and Crissy Denman, all of Springfield, and Eric, Joyce, Teresa (Christopher) Smith and Vanessa (Gerald), Raymond and Edward of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four cherished great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, DeShawn, DeShae and Ricarlos II; 30 additional great-grandchildren; cherished nieces and nephew, Mary Lee (Shively) Henry and James Shively. Jr., both of Greensburg, and Marilyn Shively of Louisville; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friend, Mate Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clinton Brantley, Sr., stepson, James Brantley, two sisters, Edna B. (Shively) Phillips and Kathryn (Shively) Brewer, and two brothers, James and William Shively. A memorial service was held Friday, November 26, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with pastor, Rev. James H. Gavin officiating. In accordance with her request, Mrs. Brantley's body will be donated to the Wright State University Medical Center.
