Atwell, 71, son of the late Luther Atwell and Beulah Kidd Atwell, was born Nov. 3, 1922 in Green County and died on Monday, Jan. 31, 1994 at the Hart County Health Care Center in Caverna. He was married to Wilma Beryl Thompson, on Nov. 9, 1940, who preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1988. Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Thompson of Louisville, Jolene Blevins of Center, and Betty Ashe of Stamford, Conn.; two brothers, Glyndon Atwell of Troy, Ohio and Kenneth Atwell of Hardyville; one sister, Christine Robertson of Center: five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral was at noon Wednesday Feb. 2, 3994, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial in the Hedgespeth Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Scott officiated. Pallbearers were Huburt Thompson, John Ashe, James R. Atwell, Dean Blevins, Eddie Jessie and Noah Arnett. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
