He was born in Green County, March 24, 1898, the son of the late James Hardy Woodward and Lillie DeSpain Woodward. He lived in the county all of his life and attended Greensburg Schools. He had served as clerk of the Selective Service Board, ticket marker for the local tobacco market, and for many years was bookkeeper for the Goff-Cantrell and the Theiss Chevrolet. He was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lillian Woodward Patterson, Greensburg; a brother, Dr. Theodore Woodward, Lewisburg, West Virginia; a nephew, Bill Patterson, Greensburg; and two nieces, Mrs. Mary Margaret Laughlin, Memphis, Tennessee and Mrs. Judy Banks, Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday morning, April 11 at Foster-Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. James! E. Evans officiating. Burial was in Greensburg Cemetery.
