He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Summersville Baptist Church. He was also a 60 year Member & Master Mason of the Summersville William B. Allen #704 Lodge F&AM. He united in marriage to Marie Lewis on September 12, 1942, who preceded him in death on March 18, 2003. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Kermit Skaggs, Everett Skaggs, Latchie Shelton, and Launia McCubbin. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Eva Ree Skaggs and Billy & Debbie Skaggs, all of Summersville; three grandchildren, Steven Skaggs, Columbia, and Tony Wood Skaggs and Kristi Young, both of Summersville; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah Young, Isaac Young, Kegan Skaggs, and Addison Marie Skaggs; and a host of other ! relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial in Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Marvin Janes and Bro. Shannon McCubbin officiated. Masonic services were conducted by the William B. Alllen #704 Lodge F&AM on Sunday, March 9 at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Steven Skaggs, Tony W. Skaggs, Mike McCubbin, Marty Young, Robbie Shelton, Jeffrey Shelton, Leroy Shelton, and Carl Alexander.
