Mrs. Church was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, June 9, 1910, to Joseph Newton Hamilton and Carrie Belle Eller Hayes. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Purlear, North Carolina. She is survived by two daughters, Velma Verniece Bernhard of San Marcos, California, and Juanita Williams of Matthews, North Carolina; two sons, R.G. Church of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and J. Lee Church of Purlear, North Carolina; one twin brother, J. Allie Hayes of Moravian Falls, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, at New Hope Baptist Church in Purlear, North Carolina, with Rev. Darrell Poole, Rev. Scott Church and Daniel Coggin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1286! N. New Hope Road, Purlear, NC 28665.
