Blakeman, son of the late Mr. Robert E. Blakeman, Sr., and Mrs. Elizabeth Henry "Sally" Durham Blakeman, was born January 13, 1924, in Green County and departed this life Friday, September 18,1998, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was 74 years, eight months and five days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Separate Baptist Church at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired mail carrier. He united in marriage to Miss Hattie Edwards on May 9,1949, who preceded him in death on December 15, 1986. To this union were born two sons, Mike and Robert Omer Blakeman, both of Greensburg. Mr. Blakeman is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Brenda Blakeman and Twalla Blakeman; a special friend, Mrs. Dennis Scott, Gabe; two sisters, Lyda Anne Gaunce, Texas, and Katherine Shuffett, Greensburg; three brothers, Joe Durham Blakeman, Lynn Taylor Blakeman and Richard Blakeman, Sr., all of Greens! burg; four grandchildren, Sammy and Brian Blakeman, both of Greensburg, Christy Lujan and Annie Howard, both of Lexington; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Lujan, Lexington, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Billy Blakeman. The funeral for Mr. Robert E. Blakeman was conducted Sunday, September 20, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Greensburg Cemetery. Rev. Gleason Bloyd officiated. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green County American Legion Park. Pallbearers were Tommy Judd, Richard Blakeman, Jr., James Everett Shuffett, Mark Blakeman, Joe Pete Blakeman, William M. Blakeman, Jr., Henry Walton Shuffett and Robert Glasscoe.
