He had been confined to his home for about 1 year. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Harriet Smith Penick to whom he was married 30 Sep 1884; 3 children: Mr. Smith Penick of Louisville, Ben W. Penick of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Miss Annie Penick of Memphis, Tenn; 4 grandchildren: Mr. L. L. Penick of Lebanon, Misses Jennie and Dorothy Ann Penick of Greensburg, and Mrs. John T. Rhea of Gumsville, Ky. The son of Ben Will and Elizabeth Brummal Penick, was born and reared in this county, and was the last member of a family of 4 children. He was a brother of Mrs. Mary Penick Lewis, W.D. "Cliff" Penick and Hundley Penick, now deceased. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wed. afternoon at the residence with Rev. J.W. Rayburn in charge, assisted by Rev. V.A. Jones an! d J.T. Stewart. Interment was in the Smith family burial grounds, on the Pilson Smith farm. Honorary pallbearers were H.L. Taylor, Tate Howard, Judge J.H. Graham, C.H. Noggle, Mayes Durham, Sam Anderson, Frank Miller, Walton Burress, M.A. Vaughn, R.A. White, T.Z. Leachman, Carl Hartfield, and V.O. Moss.
