Shafford, son of the late Mr. Ben Shafford and Mrs. Delia Mayo Shafford, was born November 6. 1923, in French Lick, Indiana, and departed this life on Sunday, June 28, 1998, at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was 74 years, seven months and 22 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Thorpe on March 4, 1979, who preceded him in death on July 21, 1997. He is survived by one daughter and two sons: Rebecca Sue Buse of Terre Haute, Indiana, Ivan Gene Shafford of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Thomas H. Shafford of Linton, Indiana; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mr. John W. Shafford were conducted Tuesday, June 30, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Bennett Cemetery. Rev. Freddie Norris and Bobby Landis officiated. Acti! ve pallbearers were Jack Blakeman, Glenn Landis, Wallace Matney, Bobby Landis, Tommy Baker, Danny Newton, Ken Allison and Rodney Landis. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Hudgins, Pam Anderson, Wilma Landis, Fanola DeSpain, Larkie Hudgins, Willie Gary, Earl Grimsley, Francis Grimsley, Jean Blakeman, Marilyn Judd, Dean Hudgins and Joyce Bennett.
