Author: Karen_Jorgensen Surnames: Price, Judd, Smith, Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.green/17108/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Travis Love Price, former Green countian and brother of Mrs. Cecil Judd, Greensburg, was killed Monday, August 9, in a runaway truck at the Clinchfield Stone Quarry near Rotherwood, Tenn. Price, 35-year-old quarry superintendent in charge of 'shooting' stone, died in the crushed cab of the heavy vehicle which plunged into a loading pit. He had boarded the truck in an effort to drive it down a short incline leading to the main road. Witnesses said that Price failed to turn onto the road and the truck hurtled off the end of the ramp, dropping 20 feel into the pit. He was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Price graduated as an honor student from Elizabeth, Ind. high school, and during the war he was employed at Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he was associated with the contractor who supplied most of the stone for the area. He joined the Clinchfield Stone company shortly after it was organized in May, 1946, and played an important role in its expansion. He ha! d lived at Old Kingsport, Tenn., for the past two years. Besides his sister he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Marie Smith Price; a son. Carl Travis Price; two daughters, Anna Mary and Sharon June Price; his father, Jacob Price, Jacksonville, Fla., and a grandfather, W. P. Price, Columbia. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Old Kingsport. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
