She was the daughter of the late Junius M. Rogers and Alice Spencer Mudd Rogers, who moved to Brooksville from Kentucky at the turn of the century. Born and raised in Brooksville, Rogers was a graduate of what is now Florida State University where she received a bachelors degree in social work and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Following two years of work in Jacksonville, Rogers enrolled at Columbia University in New. York City and spent several years in that area pursuing a career in social work. As a Young adult, she returned to Hernando County to manage her father's department store in downtown Brooksville. Once home, Rogers became very active in local politics and served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1960 where John F. Kennedy received the party's nomination for president of the United States. In 1958, Rogers joined! a group of local business people to found the First Federal Savings and Loan which is today AM South Bank. As a member of the Junior Service League, she worked with Jessie May Fridy Hatfield to establish the first Hernando County Fair. She was also involved in the creation of the Brooksville Country Club. After the death of her father, Rogers closed the department store to become Vice President of Rogers Christmas House Village. To honor her parents, Rogers created annual scholarships at Florida Southern University, one in music in memory of her mother and another in business in memory of her father. Survivors include her sister, Margaret Rogers Ghiotto of Brooksville, Florida; a nephew; Weiland Rogers and his wife Carol of Brooksville; a niece, Alice Stonaker of Rhode Island; cousins Dorothy Harbor, Francis Seibert and Jo Carol Law and Henry Durham of Brooksville; Bobby Lingle of Maitland; and Nancy Huddleston and Sarah Collins of Greensburg; and Tommy Rogers of Kentucky.! Funeral services were held Saturday, January 2, at the First United M ethodist Church in Brooksville with Rev. Doug Zipperer presiding. The funeral arrangements were by the Turner Funeral Home in Brooksville, Florida. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky.
