Propps, age 73, of Somerset, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born February 17, 1926, in Arkansas, a son of the late Mattie Chambers Propps and Clarence C. Propps. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Somerset. He was an insurance salesman for New York Life for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Eagles Nest Country Club, former Lions Club member, Lake Cumberland Life Underwriters, served for Housing. Authority Comm., chairman for 20 years in Clarksville, Arkansas, and former manager of Strand Theatre in Clarksville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mouser Propps; one son: Jason Mikel, Chattanooga, Tennessee; three daughters: Lisa Harms, Ft, Smith, Arkansas, Holly Killane, Clarksville, Arkansas and Ling Thio; one brother, Clarence Calloway Propps, Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Jordyn and James Michael Harms. Ft. Smith, Arkansas; Phillip Mikel, In! dianapolis, Indiana; and John and Stephen Shepard, Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by one sister: Floy Mae Craig. A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 7, at the First Presbyterian Church in Somerset with Rev. Jack Wilhelm officiating. Burial was in the Center Cemetery in Metcalfe County.
