Houk Cripe, 89, of Lafayette, died at midnight Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Home Hospital. Born Aug. 2, 1917, in Greensburg, Ky., to the late David and Emma Carter Houk, she had resided in Lafayette since 1935. Her first marriage was to Archie Gilmore, and he preceded her in death. She married Galen Cripe on April 2, 1966, and he preceded her in death in January 1983. Mrs. Cripe was an assembly line worker at Duncan Electric for 20 years, retiring in 1981. She was a former member of the Moose and Eagle lodges. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, sewing, playing cards, word searches and jigsaw puzzles. Surviving are a son, John D. Gilmore (wife: Linda S.) of Monticello; and a daughter, Helen Simmons (husband: Denny) of Lafayette. Friends may call 1 hour prior to 1 p.m. service Wednesday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Wunsch officiating. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
