Davis, 81, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at his home. Son of the late Frank Davis and Eva Irene Jones Davis, he was born Aug. 3, 1926 in Petersburg, Ill. He attended Macedonia Baptist Church. Davis was also a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Kentucky Colonels. He was married to Ruth Noreine Kidd on Oct. 9, 1943. She survives. Survivors also include a daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Ted Estes of Lexington, Ky.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon R. and Jennie Lou Davis and Raymond L. and Patrice Davis, all of Green County; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Pepper on Feb. 5, 1997; and a sister, Mildred Carter. The funeral was Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery with full military honors. Bros. Timmy Glass an! d Larry Wisdom officiated. Pallbearers were Loy Jones, Doyce Jones, Jimmy Sidebottom, David Sidebottom, Joe Hedgespeth, William Coffey, Wendell Wright, Herman Cook and Bobby McFelia.
