She is survived by two daughters, Velma Verniece Bernhard of San Marcos, California, and Juanita Williams of Matthews, North Carolina; two sons, R.G. Church of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, and J. Lee Church of Purlear, North Carolina; one twin brother, J. Allie Hayes of Moravian Falls, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, at New Hope Baptist Church in Purlear, North Carolina, with Rev. Darrell Poole, Rev. Scott Church and Daniel Coggin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1286! N. New Hope Road, Purlear, NC 28665. Many readers of The Record-Herald will remember Combs as the be little orphan boy who liven with Rob Tucker from the age of nine to 16. He was with the Armed Forces and was sent bank to Japan the latter part of October. He had been in service for his country about 15 years and had attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Last Thursday Mrs. Felts received a second telegram stating that his body would arrive in her home town of Elkton on January 7, and on January 8th he was laid to rest in the Elkton Cemetery with impressive ceremonies by Fort Campbell soldiers and a Chaplain from Nashville, Tenn, in charge of the burial services. Perkins and Mrs. Mattie Burress Perkins, she was born in Green County December 3, 1882. She was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ. She was united in marriage to Luther P. Bardin, November ,11,1903. To this union one daughter and four sons were born. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ada Durham, Elizabeth City, N. C.; four sons, Luther Bardin, Louisville; Fred Bardin, Hardyville; Michael Bardin, Bowling Green; and Tolbert Bardin, Greensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Tucker, Hooker, Okla., Mrs. Pearl Baker, Paoli, Indiana; one brother, Rollin Perkins, Somerset; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Reverend H. J. Conover, assisted by the Reverend John Eastridge was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Cane Valley Cemetery. Brockman, 20, was killed instantly when the car in which he was riding hit an embankment about two miles from Greensburg on the Columbia Road. Brockman is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Brockman Cane Valley: four brothers, Robert, Davis Bowlin. Paul Houston, and Oris Brockman, all of Adair county; two sisters, Mrs. Russell Garmon and Miss Edna Brockman of Adair, and many relatives in Green county.
