Author: Karen_Jorgensen Surnames: Jones, Goalder, Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.green/17781/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James Garnett Jones, better known as Uncle Jim as the son of Robert and Mary E. Jones, born 22 Sep 1841 [I believe this is incorrect], departed the walks of life 13 Jul 1945. This making him 93 years, 9 months and 9 days old. Uncle Jim was never married. He formerly lived with his sister, Mollie Jones at Exie, Ky. After his sister's death he lived with his nephew, Ross Jones and family until God saw fit to call him home. Uncle Jim will be keenly missed by his nephew and family, because of his loving disposition. Uncle Jim has many friends who will mourn his passing because he always had time to speak and fellowship with all. He enjoyed reading Religious Literature and going to church was one of his greatest desires. He professed faith in Christ in early life and united with Beech Hill Methodist church to which he was always loyal. He leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Johnny Jones, Greensburg, Ky., 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sallie Jones and Mrs. Dee Jones both of Greensbu! rg, Ky. He also leaves a host of nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces who loved and cherished him while living. Uncle Jim lived anice little while here on God's Earth, and enjoyed the fullness thereof. But he is gone now to enjoy greater things prepared for him by his Heavenly Father. Just a while before his passing, he left these words: "I have lived to die, and now to live again, I must die." Funeral services were held at the Jones cem., 14 Jul. Rev. Less Walker had charge of the services. Obituaries of Green Co. Ky., Vol. 2, compiled by Eunice Montgomery Wright, p. 105 1860 Green Co. Ky. Census, transcribed by Ruth M. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Karen_Jorgensen Surnames: Judd, Jeffries, Patterson, Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.green/17777/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Mrs. Mattie E Judd, (Jeffries) was born 29, Jan 1866, and died March 27, 1920, aged 59 years, 1 month and 28 days. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 11 and joined the Russell Creek Baptist church where she remained a member until death. She lived a consistent christian life and was a kind mother and a loving wife. She was married to G.R. Judd 5 Nov 1884. To this union were born 4 children, all boys, 3 of whom are living, one having died. Those living are Kelley and Ellis Judd of Grab, and Virgil Judd of Danville, IL. She had been sick about 12 days with bronchial pneumonia. She found in Christ comfort in her sorrows and afflictions until the end came to relieve her of all earthly suffering. She leaves a vacant place in her home and church that no one can fill. Through the last days of her suffering her faith held firm in God and when near the end she prayed and told her loved ones to meet her in heaven. She loved her church and her pastor, he was always a welcome g! uest in her home. She leaves a husband, 3 children, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 7 grandchildren and many friends to mourn her loss. The bereaved husband and children have our sympathy in this hour of trouble. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor Rev. McCubbin in Russell Creek Church assisted to the graveyard by Bro. Rufus Slinker who stated she had been almost a mother to him. As her pastor said her daily prayer was "God save my boys." We her children will not forget her prayers; that she was willing to give her life for them; and may her life eventually lead them to the Lord. Her remains were laid to rest in the family graveyard to await the resurrection, Dearest sister, thou has left us. Here they loss we deeply feel, But 'tis God that hath bereft us He can all our sorrows heal. Peaceful be they silent slumbers, Peaceful in the grave below. Thou no more will join our number, Thou no more our songs shall know. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When our day of life has fled; Then in heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no parting tear is shed. Her Sister. Obituaries of Green Co.
